Water Jugs at Rummage Sale on 110 Street

Recorded on October 6, 2007

I found some water jugs at a rummage sale and I was instantly reminded of my high school math teacher who would bang water jugs together to wake sleeping students. So I put the microphones in the jugs and banged them together. The result is the vibrating science fictiony sound you hear.

As I continued down 121 Street there was a house at the corner where some defensive dogs did not care for my presence. The two of them continued to bark at me without any human interaction, so I assume that the owners were not home.

Swing Set at Rainbow Park

This sound in particular reminded me very much of my own youth swinging away on the swing set in my backyard. I particularly liked the rhythmic sound of the rusted chain rubbing back and forth. What was nice about this recording is that I got to just sit down in the swing and relax my feet.

Recorded on October 6, 2007

I went to Rainbow Park expecting to find children playing but I found something better. By experimenting with the playground equipment I found several interesting sounds like the squeaks that come from the rusted old captain's wheel.

Windchimes on Washington St

Recorded on October 6, 2007

As I was walking down Washington Street I heard the sound of the chimes coming from someones backyard. As I recorded the one thing I worried about was if the homeowner would come out upset that I was recording without permission. Luckily it seemed as though no one was home.
